As soon as 'Mud Season' is over, we'll be breaking ground to convert our 30' x 30' barn into a glassblowing studio. That start could be as early as the end of this month, or the beginning of May. It's been a long time coming, but I am very excited. Quite a lot of work has to be done. Starting with lifting the barn about a foot off the ground, then digging about 2 feet down inside the barn to prepare for the concrete slab by placing gravel, blue board, and then pouring 6 inches of concrete. We're also bringing in water and electric, new doors, windows, insulation, drywall, lighting, and the kitchen sink. Then the glassblowing equipment is built, and the next thing you know, full production has started. Oh, and there will be a major-league sound system. Of course.
I've never done anything like this before, and neither has Elizabeth. So, it'll be quite an adventure. I'll keep posting photos of progress.
Here we go.
